Boise Metro Ranks in Top 10 for Coronavirus Recovery

The COVID-19 pandemic has heavily impacted cities across the U.S., some worse than others. Forbes published an article May 12, 2020 referencing Moody’s Analytics report that examined 100 metro areas ability to recover from Coronavirus. In the report, the cities best positioned to recover quickly were grouped into an alphabetical list of 10 and some of them may be surprising. It is believed that cities that were experiencing a growth boom as well as other fast-growing tech hub cities are poised to remain attractive in our post pandemic society. Several factors contributed to a cities ability to recover, things like a population density; workforce quality; tourism; and core-based statistical areas. 

The top 10 cities poised for recovery (listed alphabetically):

  • Boise, Idaho
  • Denver, Colorado
  • Durham, North Carolina
  • Madison, Wisconsin
  • Provo, Utah
  • Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Salt Lake City, Utah
  • San Jose, California
  • Tuscon, Arizona 
  • Washington DC

The 10 cities worst position for recovery (listed alphabetically):

  • Detroit, Michigan
  • Honolulu, Hawaii
  • Los Angeles, California
  • McAllen, Texas
  • Miami, Florida
  • New Haven, Connecticut
  • New York, New York
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
