The Building Department conducts plan reviews, and monitors by inspections all phases of construction and modifications including the maintenance of existing structures, in order to protect the public safety and welfare. The standards adopted by Kuna's City Council have been designed by the International Code Council and adopted by the State of Idaho. It is through the enforcement of these standards for the community to ensure quality developments and projects that are built safely and creates an asset for the community rather than a liability.
IMPORTANT PERMITTING & CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
Per IBC 2018 regulations, work must commence or resume within 180 days or permit is invalid. Building Official may grant time extensions prior to expiration. Permits must be picked up within 30 days of issuance or will be voided out.
There is to be no construction during quiet hours which are between the hours of 11:00 p.m. one day and 7:00 a.m. the next day per kuna city code 10-6-3.
EVERYONE is required to clean their site nightly during construction.
All plans & permit must be onsite for inspections.
Must have adequate restroom facilities located onsite.
Must have building permit information when calling in for inspection.
Mechanical / HVAC Permits
It is unlawful for any person to do, or cause to be done, any mechanical equipment installations without first obtaining a mechanical permit from the City of Kuna authorizing such work to be done.
Electrical & Plumbing Permits Required
The Electrical Program exists to protect and safeguard life, health, and property of the citizens of Idaho from hazards associated with the use of electricity by ensuring that all electrical installations within the state comply with the most current safety codes and electrical standards. A permit must be obtained prior to commencement of work. Electrical permits are available at City of Kuna Building Department.
The Plumbing Program was established to provide for the health and safety of the citizens of Idaho in private and public buildings by ensuring that plumbing practices are in compliance with the Uniform Plumbing Code as adopted. A plumbing permit must be obtained prior to any commencement of work. Plumbing permits are available at City of Kuna Building Department.
All inspections must be called in prior to 4 pm to receive them the next business day. All inspections called in after 4 pm will not be scheduled for the following work day. An actual appointment time for an inspection cannot be guaranteed, however, the city does attempt to be at the job site as close to the requested time as possible.
A complete set of approved plans must be onsite for all inspections. Failure to be ready for a requested inspection may result in an extra re-inspection fee.
The City will be closed on the following holidays. No inspections will be performed on these days.
Holidays that fall on Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday. Holidays that fall on Sunday will be observed on the succeeding Monday.
