[ARCHIVED] Solicitor and Peddler Information

πŸ“ŒDid you know that it is a violation of Kuna City Code Title 3 Chapter 3 for any person to engage in peddling or solicitation within the City of Kuna without first securing a peddling and soliciting license? This license ensures those soliciting or peddling within our City have gone through the proper application process and have passed a background check. It is not intended to prohibit or hamper speech, which is protected by the First Amendment, but merely to regulate specific activities which are commercial in nature.

Here are a few things to keep in mind if someone comes to your door:

• City-issued licenses must be worn on their person and in full view while soliciting or peddling.

• Those soliciting or peddling without a proper license can be issued a misdemeanor or administrative citation.

• Peddlers and Solicitors shall only engage between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Peddling / soliciting on major holidays is prohibited.

• The buyer of any goods solicited or peddled shall have the right to cancel the door-to-door sale within three (3) business days of the transaction.

πŸ“ŒAdditional Safety Precautions:

Never open the door to someone that you do not know.

Do not invite strangers into your home.

Always look through the peephole, window, or camera to see who is at the door.

• Prominently post “no soliciting" or “no trespassing" signs on your property.

• If solicitors approach you outside, say, “No thank you,” and walk back into your house and close and lock your door.

• If at any time you feel uncomfortable with the person, quickly shut and lock your door, then ask the individual to leave. If they don’t do as you ask, call 9-1-1 providing a description of the solicitor and what direction they were headed.

πŸ“ŒIf you wish to report an unlicensed solicitor or peddler, please collect as much information as possible such as: company name, employee name, any pictures/video, business cards, and/or pamphlets, etc. to provide to the Kuna Police Department Non-Emergency or the City of Kuna Clerk’s Office.

Please contact the Non-Emergency Line for the Kuna Police at (208) 377-6790, or the City Clerk’s Office at  (208) 387-7726 to report solicitors.
